Jonny Havens graduated from Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets and served in the Ross Volunteer Company.
Following graduation, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, earned his Ranger Tab, and served five years on active duty as an infantry officer. Jonny deployed to Iraq twice, in 2006-07 as an infantry platoon leader and 2008-09 as a staff officer. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal twice and earned the Combat Infantryman Badge.
Jonny left active duty as a Captain and went on to earn his law degree from Duke University School of Law. He was active in several organizations at Duke, including leading the Veteran Disability Assistance Program and the Federalist Society Chapter. Jonny moved back to Houston after graduation, and he began working for Baker Botts L.L.P.
During his time at Baker Botts L.L.P., Jonny zealously represented clients in state and federal court. As an attorney, he advocated for churches' and individuals' religious freedom as a volunteer attorney for First Liberty Institute.
Jonny continues to serve his community. As Chairman of Lone Star Veterans Association, Jonny strengthened the Post 9/11 veteran community in Houston through workforce and outreach programs. He also fostered fellowship and service opportunities as the president of the St. Anne’s Dads Club. Jonny and his wife, Anna, are active in several ministries at St. Anne Catholic Community, including leading the church's marriage preparation program for engaged couples since 2015.
Jonny and Anna reside in Houston with their three amazing daughters. Jonny will be a leading voice for the Texas 2nd Congressional District in the Halls of Congress, enacting laws that reflect our conservative values.
